The SpiceStack was dreamed up by product engineer Brian McLain. When Brian approached inventor Mark Greenwood with the stacked-drawer concept, Mark knew it was a winner. He had often seen his wife, an avid cook, search frustratingly for spices in her messy spice cabinet.
Convinced that home cooks could benefit from a more functional, easy-to-use spice rack, Brian and Mark completed SpiceStack's patented design and development. The first 27-Bottle SpiceStack was manufactured in November 2006 at a plant in Elk Grove Village, Ill., U.S.A., where SpiceStacks are still made today.
Mark's daughter Lauren Greenwood joined the business in April 2007 to help oversee sales and marketing. Operations quickly moved from garage to warehouse as more consumers were introduced to the organizing power of SpiceStack's drop-down drawers (spurring many "why didn't I think of that?"s).

Recently, we were chosen to review the
VROOM SOLO! When I first took it out of the box..I was a little overwhelmed and thought to myself...what now? Well, this vacuum set was so easy to put together and easy to conceal it under the kitchen sink. We decided that our kitchen is more of a mess when it comes to crumbs than our bathroom when it comes to dust and hair. So we chose to store it under our kitchen counter and boy were we happy with that decision.
There are two kinds of Vrooms: The
Vroom Central is designed to work with a central vacuum system, and the Vroom Solo is a freestanding unit that works in any home. Let me tell you how awesome this little guy is! The
VROOM SOLO is a life saver and so easy to use. ...hubby really likes using this system and highly recommends it to all of our readers.
The Vroom Solo consists of it's own power unit and dust collection bag. It is designed to fit in most standard kitchen and bathroom cabinets. There is a 24 foot retractable hose to be able to reach the spilled coffee grinds, pet hair, broken glass, cereal, or any other dry mess. What's cool is that it can clean a zone up to 48 feet wide.
When you're finished, the hose retracts and the system automatically turns off when you place the handle back in its dock.
We highly recommend this for people who have pets and children! All of the pet hair, dirt and cheerios can be snapped up in a second with the
VROOM SOLO or VROOM CENTRAL.
Overall, the Vroom has definitely helped to keep my kitchen cleaner. It easily cleaned up all the food crumbs and dirt that we drag in through our back door! Super easy to use and no lugging it out of the closet to drag it around the house. The hose pulls out and will clean up everything quickly, we use it daily.
We would love it if VROOM would offer a bagless version in the future. We think that would be a great seller and more eco-friendly.
Friday Favorite of course! I know it's two foods in a week but I have been craving these childhood favorites all week long since Alison made them last week (Alison is our SGC food editor) and so I broke down and made them this afternoon and realized why I have loved them my entire life -- entirely Chocolaty, gooey and so yummy.
1/2 C. Cocoa
1/2 C. Evaporated Milk
1/2 C. Butter
2 C. Sugar
1/2 tsp. Vanilla
3 C. Oats
1/2 Cup coconut
Combine cocoa, milk, butter and sugar in a saucepan. Cook over med. heat stirring constantly until it reaches a full boil. Continue boiling for one minute -- at one minute take off the stove and mix in the vanilla, oats and coconut. Mix well until coated and then drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let stand until firm
I love summer and I love when my kids finally get to play out in the sun! They are trapped in the house all winter and it is such a joy to see them playing together in their swimming pool!
