Find a baby carrier that is right for you!

I have been fortunate to test drive Infantino products, so that I can report back to all my readers what our experience was. With Paityn turning one we choose a carrier that would hold our growing princess. Our top pick was the Wrap & Tie which gave us the hold we were looking for along with the support. The wrap is very easy to use and can hold baby comfortably while Mommy does her errands. The bucket style seat makes it easy for baby to snuggle close to Mom for a safe ride. Paityn loves her carrier and we will post some pictures real soon showing her sitting pretty in her carrier. I love the veratility of it...I can even unload our dishwasher with her in the carrier.
Please see the chart below to choose the best carrier for your baby. We highly recommend the STYLISH WRAP AND TIE carrier by INFANTINO!

Slings
Pouch slings are an easy and compact way to carry your baby from newborn through age three and up to 35lbs. Pouch slings have become popular because they are simple to learn to use, don't have any straps and buckles, and are easy to take along while running quick errands.
Positioning: cradle, hip and tummy-to-tummy

Ring Slings
Ring slings help create a secure and adjustable pouch-like setting for your baby. Ring Slings are perfect for newborns all the way up to age three and/or 45 lbs. The ring sling is also a great sling for nursing.
Positioning: front and hip

Wraps
Wraps have a simple design and can work for newborns up to four years old. Although the wrap might be a bit intimidating due to its one long piece of fabric, once taught how to use correctly, it can help you nurse your baby with ease while distributing weight evenly to avoid back and neck strain.
Positioning: front, back and hip

Mei Tai
Based on traditional Asian baby carriers, the Mei Tai can be worn on both the front and back with your baby in an upright position. The two-shouldered design helps distribute your baby's weight and the pack can be worn in the front in a tummy-to-tummy action or worn in a backpack style for back-to-tummy positioning. The carrier offers comfort and support to you and your baby.
Positioning: tummy-to-tummy, back-to-tummy and hip

Front Carrier
A front pack carrier is specifically designed to sit on the front of your body. These types of carriers are suitable for babies once they can sit unsupported. It allows you to carry your child securely and close to your body while leaving your hands free. It is a comfortable and easy-to-use baby carrier, perfect for use during day-to-day activities. The baby can also face in or out, whichever way the two of you are most comfortable.
Check out our Easy Rider, Comfort Rider

Dual Carrier
Dual carriers are often structured soft carriers which keep their shape and form without being worn. These dual carriers can be worn in the front or back of your body. It is recommended that you carry your baby facing in until they are around 4 months old and their neck muscles are strong enough to hold their head up.
Check out our Front2Back Rider, 6inOne Rider

Framed Back Carrier
Framed Back Carriers are the most structured and supportive baby carriers on the market. These carriers feature padded shoulder straps and stiff waist/hip belts to provide both mom and dad with the most support. With a foundation taken straight from hiking backpacks, the framed backpack carrier allows your child's weight to be distributed to the hips rather than your back and shoulders. This back carrier is perfect for your newborn (with insert) through preschool age up to 55lbs.
Infantino has a ton of great products that you and your baby will love.

JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH REVIEW

While The Nightmare Before Christmas was already considered too dark and unconventional by some audiences, James and the Giant Peach reaches further levels of obscurity and sunlessness, conditions that are somewhat redeemed by cutting-edge visuals. With Tim Burton once again providing a watchful eye as producer, the film continues Nightmare's use of his trademark visual style, which grafts quite well onto complex stop-motion animation. But some of Burton's live-action films are too skewed for his adult audiences, so this children's movie, directed by Henry Selick as an interpretation of Burton's mind, will be lost on them, so far flung are the elements of Roald Dahl's book and their twisted onscreen realization. A telling sign is that it's rated PG rather than G. Nothing really shocking or gruesome happens, but the world depicted is ever so slightly grotesque, such that the characters never achieve the familiarity that makes them marketable to children as toys. Not that merchandising should necessarily be its goal, but it should at least aim for a spot in children's memories outside of trippy fragments that come to them in dreams. The plot of Dahl's fairy tale seems to result from throwing together random events and objects, almost a Mad Libs approach to narrative. There's no doubt the visions of Dahl, Selick, and Burton come together with grand visual style and exhausting technical achievement, but what's missing is the coherence that might make them magical. ~ Derek A.

Our kids didn't know what to think when they received this movie to review. After watching it the first time it was a hit with my kids. It reminds me of Corraline...kind of dark, erie, childish yet fun! We had a great movie night with the kids and they really enjoyed watching the peach grow so large. This is a great movie to put on your Holiday gift giving list since it is so affordable. The Blu-ray edition is the best the detail in the picture quality is phenoinal.

In past two weeks I have been working with my three kiddos on how to brush their teeth. Thanks to Collective Bias for offering my kids a shopping spree at our local Walmart. We went on a search for craft products that we can use to make our own version of INVISIBLE NASTIES!! What are INVISIBLE NASTIES you ask??? They are the tiny germs and particals that collect on your tooth brush. While teaching my kids how to brush their teeth, I also taught the about changing their tooth brushes every three months. Check out my Whrrl story on y side bar to see what we made.

INVISIBLE NASTIES!
Don't give germs and bacteria a place to hide!
Germs and bacteria, or invisible nasties as we call them, can be a real danger to your smile. Dentists recommend that you change your toothbrush every three months. Studies show that after three months of normal wear and tear toothbrushes are much less effective at removing plaque from teeth and gums.
Toothbrush Tips
Colgate offers a complete line of toothbrushes, each designed to meet your specific oral care needs. As unique as each brush is, you can count on all of them to help remove dangerous plaque from teeth and gums. Improve the effectiveness of your brush and lower the chance of carrying harmful germs and bacteria by following the care tips outlined below.
How can I take care of my toothbrush?
Toothbrushes can harbor germs and bacteria, we call them Invisible Nasties. To keep your toothbrush and yourself healthy:
- Make sure you let your toothbrush dry out between uses.
- After using your toothbrush, shake it vigorously under tap water and store it in an upright position so that it can air out.
- To prevent cold and flu viruses from being passed between brushes, try to keep your toothbrush from touching others when it is stored.
How often should I change my toothbrush?
Dentists recommend that you should change your toothbrush at least every three months.
Studies show that after three months of normal wear and tear, toothbrushes are much less effective at removing plaque from teeth and gums compared to new ones. The bristles break down and lose their effectiveness in getting to all those tricky corners around your teeth.
It's also important to change your toothbrush after you've had a cold, the flu, mouth infection or a sore throat. That's because germs can hide in toothbrush bristles and lead to re-infection.
How often should I brush my teeth?
Brushing twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste has been proven to reduce the risk of tooth decay.
There are so any things that we can teach our kids and this is one of the best life lessons. Brushing their teeth with a clean tooth brush is the only way to go.

Meaningful moments in life!

Women For Hope has been a long time in the making. I, Pam Swider, have been through a lot in the last few years. I am now at a point in my life where I want to give back and help others as I have been helped. Together with my wonderful husband Tom, we have started Women For Hope.
To give you a little history, back in my early 20's, I had moved down to Florida on my own for my first job out of college. It was a wonderful experience and I grew immensely as a woman and really found out who I was. However, there was one thing that happened that changed me forever. Right before I returned to my home state of Michigan, I was date raped. I blocked it out for over a year and when I started to remember via nightmares and flashbacks, I knew I needed help. I talked to my Mom and my sister and they helped as best they could, but I had to get professional help. I remembered seeing a public service announcement about an organization called RAINN. I found their website on the Internet and called the hotline - 1-800-656-HOPE. The counselor I talked to listened to me and directed me to the sexual assault center that started me on my long road to recovery.
I was also lucky enough to meet Tom. He has been involved in the prevention of violence against women and children. At the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, he worked at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Hospital helping professionals to council children and teens who were sexually abused. Plus, he has been involved in the martial arts community for almost 30 years during which he has specifically taught both self-defense and rape-prevention techniques with one-on-one private lessons and with groups at various Martial Art Academies across the country. He also taught a self-defense class at the University of Michigan . He has been so supportive of what I have been through and he understands not only how hard the road to recovery can be, but how rewarding it is when you go from being a victim to a survivor.
And now....10 years, many hours of therapy, lots of support from loved ones, some bumps and bruises later, I can now call myself a survivor. One thing I have learned is knowledge is power and knowing you are not alone can mean everything. Women For Hope is a place where you can find out information, you can find out about organizations that help and you can buy some great products from a store that carries products that either are made by or support women. When you do, a portion of the proceeds goes to one of the charities that help women fight the fight every day.
So explore, get educated, ask questions... and buy yourself or someone you care about something special that gives back.
Thanks for visiting, Pam and Tom Swider
